This is especially important if you advise clubs or supervise any other activities that utilize social media.

As you know from my Feburary 13, 2019 email to the Assembly, SUNY came up with the SUNY Online initiative outlined in the SUNY Online White Paper. The SUNY campuses were invited to comment on the initiative and the Faculty Council of Community Colleges considered the issue at its March plenary, adopting the FCCC Resolution in Response to the White Paper. Our own institution gave a written response to SUNY about this initiative. Now the Open SUNY team and FACT2 are asking those of you who teach online classes to complete the LMS Essential Elements online survey by June 1, 2019. (The 'LSM' stands for 'learning management systems'.)
The SUNY General Education Working Group has been working on GenEd revision and published the SUNY Green Paper on General Education Revision in March. The Faculty Council of Community Colleges adopted the FCCC Resolution in Response of the Green Paper at March plenary. Our college, after soliciting feedback from the campuses, gave a response to SUNY as well.

The Office of Academic Affairs is seeking a solution to the concerns expressed by faculty related to the Liberal Arts General Studies program. Working with the Executive Deans, Academic Affairs hopes to have in place, in the near future, interim administrators drawn from the faculty who will be tasked with the assessment, advisement, and curricular requests of faculty related to this program. This person will work with a small group of faculty and a point person from Academic Affairs to develop a system which supports students enrolled in the program and assists faculty.

The committee met on Friday 4/12/19. The following items were discussed:
The committee has been continuing to work on a proposal for the chemical dependency counseling program. However the CDC department was unable to edit the proposal in time to meet the FA contract timeline for class size committee proposals; therefore, the committee could not make a recommendation to the VPAA at this time, and they will have to re-submit in the future.
The Committee cancelled its April meeting because too many people were going to be absent. Our next meeting is May 2nd at 3:45 pm in Ammerman 205.
At the March meeting we had Associate Dean Deborah Wolfson report on the Guided Pathways initiative adopted by SUNY. Guided Pathways is a group of measures that may be adopted by schools in whole or partially depending on the needs of each college. They are based in 4 pillars: high school, entering a pathway, advising, and academic alerts, to ensure students more consistently complete college and attain their goals. There have been a few Guided Pathways Institutes attended only by administrators on the part of SCCC. This project at SCCC is in its infancy so many questions raised by the committee in the discussion that ensued could not be answered.
